Who usually does it
general dentist. Done by the general dentist or prosthodontist after the surgeon places the implant.
One question worth asking
Does this quote include the connector as well as the crown?
Implant crown
The tooth that goes on top of an implant. It usually needs an abutment (a connector piece) between the implant and the crown. Codes differ by material and by whether the crown screws directly onto the implant or onto a separate abutment.
Once the post has healed, an impression or scan is taken of it and a crown is made to match the neighboring teeth. Some crowns screw straight into the implant; others sit on a separate connector, called an abutment, which is its own code. Codes then split by the material of the crown. Most plans file this as Major. What they actually pay varies by plan.
