Who usually does it
general dentist. Done in any general office, often in a few minutes.
One question worth asking
Is there enough enamel to do this safely?
Cosmetic touch-ups
Quick fixes to the look or feel of a tooth: polishing away surface stains or white spots, or smoothing a rough or sharp edge.
Polishing takes surface stain or a chalky white spot off the enamel with a fine abrasive, and reshaping smooths a chipped or sharp edge with a disc. Both are quick, usually need no numbing, and remove only a small amount of surface. They change how a tooth looks rather than repair damage. Ask the office how these are billed, because plans treat them differently.
