Visits where you talk with a dentist or specialist about a problem or a plan but no treatment is done that day. This includes second opinions, treatment planning sessions, pre-treatment screening, visits to your home or care facility, and video or online check-ins (teledentistry), which are billed alongside whatever service the dentist actually provides.

This is a talking visit: the dentist or specialist reviews records, lays out options and answers questions, and no treatment is done that day. Second opinions, treatment planning sessions, home and care-facility visits, and video check-ins all sit here. When a procedure is done at the same visit, the office usually bills the procedure instead.
