Who usually does it
general dentist. Set by each office. Insurance does not pay these.
One question worth asking
What is your cancellation window, and what happens if I miss it?
Cancelled appointment fee
D9987. Charged when you cancel with too little notice.
Charges that are not treatment: a missed or cancelled appointment fee, sales tax where it applies, and interpreter or translation services.
These lines are office charges rather than dental care: a missed or late-cancelled appointment, sales tax where a state applies it, or an interpreter booked for the visit. Practices set their own rules for them and they appear on the bill next to treatment. Dental plans do not pay these.
