Extra time and help for patients who need it: behavior support for a child or a patient with special needs, coordinating with your medical doctor, and case management for complex health situations.

These codes pay for time rather than treatment: settling an anxious child, the extra staff and equipment a patient with a disability may need, a call to your doctor about a medical condition before treatment, or coordinating care across several appointments. They appear alongside whatever procedure was done. Most plans do not pay for them, so ask the office how they are billed.
