把牙齿上微小的高点重新塑形，让咬合时接触更均匀。可以只调整几颗牙，也可以调整整口牙，有时会先用模型架上的模型进行规划。
咬合纸能显示出哪些牙齿先接触，那些高点会被一点一点地磨低，直到接触均匀分布。补牙或牙冠之后的小幅调整只需几分钟；全口调整则先在模型架上的模型上进行规划，再分几次就诊完成。磨掉的牙釉质不会再生，所以调整是分小步进行的。
